Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the urban setting.

Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the team knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

The traitor then paid off his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each member has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
  • The adventurer knows the region and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the clan.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Questers and Planners parties.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
