Vinted Users Voice Frustration Regarding Size Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
